4. Applicable accessibility requirements
Marcato S.p.A. pursues compliance with the accessibility requirements laid down in Italian Legislative Decree No. 82/2022, the UNI CEI EN 301549 V3.2.1 standard and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, which are used as technical references for verification and continuous improvement activities.
5. How the service meets accessibility requirements
Marcato S.p.A. adopts technical and organisational measures to make the service perceivable, operable, understandable and robust, including for persons with disabilities. The assessments carried out have confirmed the accessibility of the website in various respects, including semantic structure, page titles, language identification, minimum contrast, text resizing, content reflow and status messages. Additional requirements remain subject to verification and periodic monitoring with a view to their implementation.
The following measures have also been implemented:
• The display and operation of content do not depend on screen orientation, unless a specific orientation is essential.
• With regard to pre-recorded multimedia content, an alternative is provided that contains the same information or explains the content, for example, a text transcript of audio content or a text description of what is displayed.
• Each form field (e.g. name, email address, address) has a clear and identifiable purpose, and assistive software and technologies (such as screen readers) can determine what information needs to be entered.
• All content functionality can be operated using only a keyboard, without requiring users to press keys within specific time limits.
• Where animations, flashing, scrolling or automatically updating content start automatically and last for more than five seconds while other content is visible, the website provides a mechanism for pausing, stopping or hiding the movement; automatic updates can be stopped, hidden or their frequency can be controlled, unless they are essential.
• Web pages have titles that describe their topic or purpose.
• The language of each page is specified so that browsers and screen readers can automatically identify it.
• In the HTML code, each element has correct opening and closing tags, tags are properly nested and do not overlap, no attribute is duplicated within the same element, and each ID is unique.
6. Accessibility of identification, security and payment functionalities
Identification, authentication, payment and transaction-management functionalities are developed and monitored taking into account the accessibility requirements applicable to e-commerce services.
As of the date of this update, assessments of specific WCAG criteria relating to these functionalities are still ongoing.
7. Accessibility status of the service
Automated, technical and sample-based manual assessments have confirmed compliance with numerous WCAG criteria, while others remain under assessment and/or are being progressively brought into compliance. Marcato S.p.A. has prepared a remediation plan to address the issues that prevent the website from being fully accessible, with the support of specialised partners.
A continuous website accessibility monitoring system will therefore be introduced, including periodic accessibility audits and targeted technical assessments involving experts and users with disabilities.
8. Accessibility for different types of disabilities
Cognitive and learning disabilities
The service is designed to facilitate the comprehensibility of content, consistency of navigation and predictability of interactions. Marcato S.p.A. also monitors the comprehensibility of content, error identification, and the usability of forms and purchasing procedures.
Motor disabilities
The service aims to support the use of alternative input devices, assistive technologies and mouse-free navigation. Keyboard navigation, focus management and the behaviour of certain interactive components remain subject to assessment and are included in the remediation plan.
Hearing disabilities
Essential service content does not rely solely on audio. With regard to any multimedia content, assessments of captions and video accessibility are ongoing with a view to bringing such content into compliance.
Visual disabilities
The service is designed to facilitate the use of screen readers, magnification software, browser zoom and other assistive technologies for persons who are blind or have low vision. Consideration is given to semantic structure, page language, text resizing, colour contrast and assistive reading technologies.
9. Compatibility with assistive technologies
The website is developed taking into account the use of screen readers, magnification software, zoom functionality, keyboard navigation and the accessibility settings of desktop and mobile operating systems; interoperability with such technologies and settings remains subject to periodic assessment.
10. Monitoring and maintenance of compliance
Marcato S.p.A. periodically monitors accessibility through technical assessments, manual and automated testing, audits also carried out with specialised service providers, compatibility analyses, the management of reports and feedback, and the implementation of any resulting corrective measures.
11. Limitations and improvement plan
Some content or functionalities may have limitations or require further manual assessment, potentially affecting the experience of users with disabilities.
Areas for improvement include, for example, captions, meaningful sequence, sensory characteristics, input purpose, text spacing, content on hover or focus, keyboard navigation, focus order, link purpose, headings and labels, behaviour on focus, error handling, and error prevention in operations resulting in legal or financial commitments or affecting data.
The areas identified require the completion of manual assessments and, where necessary, the implementation of the resulting corrective measures.
The improvement plan includes completion of the audit, automated and manual assessments, updates to components, testing with specialists, and monitoring of reports and feedback.
In the event of any difficulties, users may use the channels indicated in the “Assistance and reporting” section to receive support or alternative information as quickly as possible.
12. Review and updating of accessibility information
Marcato S.p.A. periodically verifies that the information provided is up to date and consistent with the service, changes made to the website and platforms, developments in assistive technologies and applicable legislation, as well as the results of monitoring activities, audits and reports.
The information is reviewed at least annually and, in any event, whenever significant changes are made to the service, infrastructure, or regulatory and technical framework.
Any necessary updates are published without undue delay in the same manner as this document.
Marcato S.p.A. retains documentation relating to assessment, monitoring and improvement activities for the period prescribed by law and makes it available to the competent Authorities.
Development and maintenance activities take accessibility by design into account, where technically and organisationally feasible.
